Return on investment plenary / Plénière : Retours sur investissements
The Day 1 Plenary brings into focus the vast returns on investment that family planning provides both locally and globally. Two roundtable discussions will take place followed by a Q&A period with questions from the live and virtual audiences. The first roundtable includes invited discussants Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda, Dr. Ernesto Pernia, Secretary of Socio-economic Planning and Director General (Minister), National Economic and Development Authority of the Philippines, and Annette Dixon, Vice President, Human Development, World Bank. This discussion will highlight the return on investments in effective family planning policies and programs to reap the benefits of the demographic dividend.
The second roundtable includes invited discussants Dr. Hans-Peter Kohler of the University of Pennsylvania and Ms. Jane Nyathi, a selected ICFP youth leader from Zimbabwe. The second roundtable will explore returns on investment in family planning related to health, economics, and the environment. The discussions will be chaired by Dr. Chris Elias, President of Global Development of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. A special message will be shared from environmentalist Jane Goodall.
